After 3 months of using Comcast’s PVR I was sick of the interface. I find it hard to navigate and the damn thing has a preference to record standard TV over Hi Def.
Having lived with both Tivo and Windows MCE I opted for Tivo. There’s not a big difference between the two but, for me, MCE is overkill. I can’t really use the music or picture interface because of my preference for Mac.
The box came today and it’s very sleek and light and connects with a modest number of cables. It’s a much neater package than the Wintel PC it replaces. I was concerned about my DVI TV’s compatibility with the HDMI connection on the Tivo but for $15 Radio Shack sold me an adapter that allows me to plug the DVI cable into the Tivo box.
We await the Comcast tech who’ll come on Monday and insert the cablecards.
